Applying to study mid-year

Applications for courses commencing from July 2015 open from 9am on Monday 13 April 2015.

To see what courses are available for mid-year entry, go to CourseSearch on the VTAC website.

Mid-year course applications are available to domestic applicants only, except for international students who are currently studying at the University of Melbourne and are seeking a course transfer within the University.

How to apply

Before you can apply you need to register for a VTAC user account.

If you registered an account last year, you will still be able to access it using your existing user name and password. Accounts registered from August to December 2014 will remain active until the last business day of July 2015.

If you made an application between August and December last year (and paid the application fee) you can reactivate your application for mid-year, however as some courses are not available for mid-year entry you will need to submit a new list of course preferences.

Mid-year application deadlines and fees

Mid-year applications close at 5pm on Friday 5 June 2015.
The fee for new applications is $43, while reactivated applications have a fee of $20.

Applicants who have experienced education disadvantage may wish to apply for special consideration through the Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS).

Scholarship applications through VTAC are not open at mid-year.


Some courses require applicants to sit an admissions test such as the STAT or ALSET in order to be considered for selection. Check the selection criteria for the courses you are interested to see if you are required to sit a test.

STAT and ALSET sittings will be held in May. The registration deadline is 5pm on Wednesday 20 May. For more information see Where and when: STAT sittings and Where and when: ALSET sittings.

Midyear offers

There are several rounds for mid-year offers. Not all institutions participate in each offer round. Offers for University of Melbourne courses will be made in the final round only.

Round 1 mid-year offer information will be available from your VTAC user account from noon on Friday 19 June 2015.
